Still Don't Know What Career You Want?

Students today have so many diverse interests and commitments that they sometimes have trouble identifying a single career path to start down!  The task can seem overwhelming and daunting at times.  If you are having trouble picking a single career on which to focus your job search, career expert Annie Favreau suggests examining factors other than the job title.

Favreau recommends considering work location and environment before the actual job.  Students who are stuck in their job search should ask themselves what their ideal work situation would be.  For example, they should think about whether they can stand sitting in a cubicle or whether they need more open space.  They should consider how much social interaction they would like their job to entail.  Student job seekers should also think about what work-related activities they enjoy doing.  Once you have identified some of these work preferences, career exploration sites are incredibly helpful.  This approach may actually open your eyes to new options you had not previously considered!
