OFCCP COMPLIANCE
What is it?
The Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) is part of the U.S. Department of Labor and is responsible for enforcing laws that maintain that companies do not discriminate while hiring and embrace policies of equal opportunity employment.
Why is it important?
Companies have always been encouraged to give all individuals equal opportunity employment. Now, more than ever, many companies’ hiring practices are under further scrutiny by the government. Because such a large number of companies have received federal funding over the past year, the government enforces more stringent hiring laws – these laws are governed and maintained by the OFCCP and its subsidiary, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).
Maintaining OFCCP and EEOC compliance are incredibly important, even for companies that are not considered to be doing business as a federal contractor. Incorporating EEOC standards into any hiring program is a best practice because meeting those standards ensures that you will be fully prepared in the event of an audit. In fact, the OFCCP collected more than $100 million from companies that failed to meet EEOC hiring standards (hrworks.com).
Now, more and more companies conduct internal audits to track efforts towards affirmative action and equal opportunity employment. In either case, you want to be prepared.
How can OneWire help?
Upcoming features on OneWire will enable your company to more efficiently track candidates and record data around your hiring practices. Companies will have the option to turn on OFCCP compliance, and this setting will then be applied to all future Projects created on the OneWire system.
When OFCCP compliance is turned on, you will be able to track the following:
1. EEOC job classification for that position
2. Racial, ethnic, and gender makeup of all candidates who were considered for that position
3. Project details, search criteria, and candidate profiles and resumes
All of this information will be collected at the time of consideration and stored as a PDF.
These new features not only help you be prepared for an audit, but give you access to on-going reporting and enable you to keep your commitments when it comes to diversity hiring.
If you have any questions about the benefit of OFCCP compliance and OneWire’s robust EEOC reporting features, please contact us at support@onewire.com.
