Top Three Customer Support Questions

We know that OneWire is not like other job sites and, because it is so different, our support team fields many questions from our users. More often than not, the questions are very similar, so we want to take this opportunity to share with you some of the top questions and answers.

1.    Why am I not matched to a position for which I believe I am qualified?
There are two likely reasons a position may not show up as a match on your dashboard. The first is that you may not have completed your profile with enough detail. If a hiring manager selects key criteria for a position and your profile is missing that information, you will show up very low on the list of matches – or not at all. If you want to be considered for relevant opportunities on OneWire, each section of your profile has to have all the right information defined with the right level of detail. So it is in your best interest to update your profile with as much detail as you can.

The other reason you may not be matched to an opportunity for which you think you are qualified: while your current title may match that of a position on OneWire, your experience may not meet the position requirements. At OneWire, we often see that candidates’ titles do not reflect all the responsibilities they carry out while in a position. So if the position you see on OneWire seems like a good fit based on the title, keep in mind that the hiring manager may not be searching for your specific experience.

2.    Can I simply upload my resume?
You can and should upload your resume to your profile in the Personal Information section. However, OneWire is not like other job boards that scan your resume for keywords. Instead, our matching technology uses the information you define in your profile to make precise matches based on your specific expertise and skills. OneWire cannot match you to any positions if you simply upload your resume. So go ahead and add your resume, but be sure to complete your profile, too.

To be considered for any position on OneWire, you must either be matched to the position or express interest in it so that the hiring manager can find you. By now, you know that your profile must contain enough detailed information, especially in the Experience section, to be matched to a position.

3.    Why can I not apply for a position?
This is the most common question we receive at OneWire. While it is true that you cannot apply for positions on OneWire in the traditional sense of sending your resume to a hiring manager, you can take steps that help get your profile in front of the hiring manager:

• Express interest in positions for which you believe you are a strong candidate
• Include as much information as possible in your profile – there is no such thing as too much detail on OneWire
• Carefully select the Career Preferences you include

Your Career Preferences may help you be matched to a small selection of very specific positions, but they will not help increase your overall number of matches.

Please note that Career Preferences are not the same as Confidentiality Preferences – your privacy settings will never affect the quantity or quality of your matches on OneWire.
