We changed our look! Well, we changed the look of our newsletter. With
all the recent enhancements we have made to the site, we wanted to

For
the third month in a row, the U.S. unemployment rate remained at 9.7
percent. But unlike the two months before it, March brought jobs
growth, with upwards of 160,000 jobs added. BusinessWeek even
reports that the jobs gains last month represented the biggest
employment increase in the United States in more than three years.

Strategic Workforce Planning on the Rise
A recent article featured
on Ere.net focuses on "Strategic Workforce Planning," a concept that is
new to most companies because they instead favor "Traditional Workforce
Planning." The article claims that traditional workforce planning makes
assumptions that are no longer valid. Some examples: companies can no
longer assume that there are enough skilled workers to meet their
needs, that workers will even accept their employment offers, and that
colleges and universities are producing the type of talent they need.
Strategic
workforce planning becomes especially important in emergency hiring
situations. When a company suddenly has to make dozens of hires - or
more - they must have the right practices in place to ensure that they
can target the right talent and then seamlessly on-board that talent.
The article states that, "While there are plenty of people, only a
small fraction of them have the skills and motivation to meet or adapt
to emerging needs...and the information most firms have about their
current employees' skills and abilities is lacking." This presents a
significant challenge for hiring firms.
A major step toward
implementing a strategic workforce plan is making sure you have access
to a diverse pool of candidates whose information is detailed and
current. OneWire can help.

A Candidate Pool with All the Information You Need
The
hiring process becomes increasingly difficult when you do not have the
right type of candidate information at your fingertips. If you have a
heaping pile of resumes on your desk, it could take you weeks to sort
through them and find the right candidates to interview. Or if you have
access to an Applicant Tracking System (ATS), it could take you just as
long to sort through that system to find a candidate whose information
is up-to-date. Enter OneWire.
We recently made site
enhancements that make it even easier for you to sort through our
candidate database. One of these new features is the "Match Preview
Flyover." When candidates are matched to your open opportunities on
OneWire, you now have the ability to view high-level information about
each candidate without having to navigate into their profiles.
When
you hover your mouse above a matched candidate's name, a box containing
the breakdown of that candidate's match details appears. A histogram
shows you up to five of the top criteria categories that candidate
matches within your search. The size of each bar displayed within that
histogram shows you that candidate's relative score for each criteria
category.
At OneWire, we want to help you find the right candidates and evaluate
their skills and qualifications efficiently and precisely. Our diverse
candidate pool helps you find the right candidates, and our new search
features help you make the best hiring decisions.
