Helping you help your students and alumni land their next job

March 2010

Registered Rep. recently named OneWire one of the top sites for professionals in financial services. Combine that with the recent uptick in hiring at the undergraduate and MBA levels, and it is a great time for your students to be on OneWire. Now that we have expanded into legal, insurance, consulting, real estate, technology, retail, and other industries, OneWire will help you get even more of your students hired.

Partner Schools
More than 500 leading colleges and universities have partnered with OneWire. Now, many of those schools have started using Campus Pro for their on-campus recruiting and have become Pro Partners. Only students and alumni of Pro Partner Schools have access to the full suite of university tools that will help them advance their careers.

Big East Career Consortium
On Thursday, March 11, we hosted members of the Big East Career Consortium at our office for a presentation of OneWire Campus Pro. Career counselors from Big East universities attended the event, and their feedback was well-received. If you would like to see a similar Campus Pro presentation, please feel free to contact us at campuspro@onewire.com.
Recruitment and Placement
Recent Graduates Make Creative Career Choices

The tough job market forced many graduates from the classes of 2008 and 2009 to get creative when it came to their job searches and career choices. Unable to land positions in their desired fields or those closely related to their majors, many students broadened their nets. Some opened their searches up to non-traditional opportunities in new fields, some applied for internship and part-time opportunities, and some enrolled in graduate degree programs.

The New York Times reports that the difficult hiring market recent graduates faced contributed to the "Return of the Ski Bum." This story details how many graduates were so frustrated with their recent job search, they abandoned it altogether and opted to work in ski resorts.

What does all this mean for 2010 graduates? While the job market appears to be improving, especially for college hiring, this year's graduates still need to be creative in their job searches and remain open to a wide range of opportunities. And much like the graduates before them, students from the Class of 2010 will need your office's help in finding relevant opportunities. So, what steps can your office take to help your students be found for the right opportunities upon graduation?
OneWire's Solution
Use OneWire Campus Pro to Help your Students Land the Interview - and the Job

You can help your students be creative in their job searches by encouraging them to try new search methods, like signing up on OneWire. For those students unfamiliar with using a job-matching site, you can assure them that OneWire will help them access the most relevant opportunities and increase their chances of landing an interview - and a job.

We recently updated the OneWire candidate profile page students fill out when they sign up on OneWire. Now, their profile information is even more organized and concise, so hiring managers know exactly where to find the precise information they need about your students.

When your students are matched to opportunities and contacted for interviews, you can use Campus Pro's scheduling capabilities to manage the entire interview process. You control the on-campus interview schedule, from dates and times to rooms and locations. And you maintain that control throughout the entire process, from presentations and information sessions to first- and final-round interviews.
