Helping you help your students and alumni land their next job

February 2010

BusinessWeek recently named OneWire one of "America's Most Promising Startups." And in late January, Business Insider claimed that OneWire's use of "structured data," confidentiality, and a bounty system puts us ahead of the competition. We are thrilled about this recognition, especially because we know exclusive OneWire features like these will get your students and alumni hired.

More than 500 leading colleges and universities have partnered with OneWire. Any candidate on OneWire has access to the hundreds of top firms that seek candidates for their open opportunities, but only students and alumni of OneWire Partner Schools have access to the full suite of university tools that will help them advance their careers.
Recruitment and Placement
2010 Graduates are Hopeful for a Brighter Jobs Outlook

The first unemployment figures for 2010 were released Friday, Feb. 5. The unemployment rate dropped to 9.7 percent in January from 10 percent in December - perhaps an indication that firms are already executing this year's hiring plans. Now, some students are finally seeing signs of economic improvement and are hopeful they will receive job offers in the near future.

BusinessWeek reports that 2010 MBA students can look forward to an improved job market upon graduation. According to The New York Times, MBA students from Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Sloan School in particular expect success this year. When they recently tested demand for summer internships and full-time opportunities, the MIT students found that small- to mid-sized firms are expanding their hiring plans, with high-technology, startup, and alternative energy firms doing the most hiring.

Small- to mid-sized firms are usually the driving forces behind increased employment in finance in the United States. However, this trend holds true in many other industries as well. Firms may be hiring, but your students need you to connect them with those firms. So, what steps can your office take to make sure your students are connected to precisely the right firms?
