Economy
Unemployment Rate Stays Constant: Good or Bad?

The unemployment rate for December remained unchanged from November's 10 percent. While this may be a positive indicator of the direction of the economy, analysts remain divided on the employment outlook.

ADP, provider of HR, payroll, tax, and benefits administration solutions, sponsors the ADP National Employment Report and is sanguine, anticipating that private employment will increase within the next few months.

Read the ADP report.

However, some analysts remain less confident - because of the reasons behind the stagnant unemployment rate.

According to the Associated Press, the unemployment rate remained at 10 percent because people stopped looking for work - and they were not counted as unemployed. The AP also reports that the unemployment rate will increase as people see signs of an improving economy and once again begin looking for work.

Recruitment
How Employee Satisfaction Will Impact Hiring

Although we would expect those with jobs to be delighted by the simple fact that they are employed while many of their peers are not, recent survey results released by The Conference Board show that only 45 percent of those surveyed are satisfied with their jobs. This is the lowest level of job satisfaction in the United States in two decades.

No age or income group is immune to job dissatisfaction; in fact, the youngest demographic expresses the highest level of dissatisfaction.

What does this mean for hiring managers?

First, everybody is searching for a job.
OneWire allows you to tap into this pool of currently-employed, or passive candidates. More importantly, we allow the candidates to maintain their privacy and confidentiality, allowing them to be on the lookout for new opportunities - like yours - without compromising their current employment.

Second, firms need to maintain a pipeline of prospective candidates.
OneWire allows you to constantly add to your candidate pool, whether it is through your website, through jobs you post, or through referrals.

Most importantly, candidates on OneWire can easily maintain their profiles, ensuring that you have the most up-to-date information.

Best Practices
Efficiently Manage Prospective Candidates

A constant lament of hiring managers is the difficulty in managing candidates who come to their firm's website to apply for a job. Typically, one of two things will happen: candidates' resumes go to an inbox - a virtual black hole; or candidates fill out a detailed profile through a hosted application - and can never go back to update it.

Either way, both parties lose. Candidates get lost in the shuffle, and hiring managers are overwhelmed by the volume of applicants and no ability to effectively search through them.

OneWire solves this problem with its free In-Sourcing tool.

How it works: We give you a customized link to post on your website, in emails, or anywhere interested candidates will see it. You can give the link to your recruiter - and even use it in job listings you place on other job sites.

Candidates click on the link and are directed to a co-branded page, where they create a profile and are tagged as showing interest in your firm. This enables you to add to your candidate pool, track all candidates already interested in your firm, filter through potential candidates, and target only those candidates who precisely meet your firm's requirements.

With OneWire In-Sourcing, you never have to wade through hundreds of resumes. That one perfect candidate is always within your reach.
