Today's Job Market: A Challenge for 2010 Graduates

Graduates in the Class of 2010 will have their work cut out for them. Hiring for graduates next year will hover around its lowest level in decades, according to a Michigan State University survey on recruiting trends. The survey results, just released in November, indicate that large and medium-sized companies in particular will not hire as many graduates from the Class of 2010 as they have from the classes of 2008 or 2009. As a result, students graduating next year will face a more difficult job market than their peers before them. Read the article.

During November, OneWire authored a survey that gauged the employment goals and job search processes of finance professionals - as well as students hoping to work in finance after graduation. Of the participants who are currently searching for a finance-related job, a mere 21.9 percent said they are "very confident" that they will find a finance-related job within the next six months.

So what actions can Career Services Offices do to help the Class of 2010 tackle these challenges and land a job in this economic environment? OneWire has the solution.
OneWire's Solution

Students and alumni certainly need to increase and diversify their job search efforts to succeed in the current job market. With OneWire, you can help them do just that.

In early 2010, OneWire will launch a full suite of university tools that will be available only to those schools that have partnered with OneWire.

These new features include:

·    ability to control and manage the entire recruiting process in a single application that provides robust reporting and applicant tracking capabilities

·    scheduling capability to manage, review, and approve all on-campus recruiting activities including employer information sessions, job interviews, and more

·    expanded scope to include the following industries: Legal, Consulting, Education, Government, Health Care, Media & Entertainment, Non-Profit, Real Estate, Technology, Travel & Hospitality, and more.

By streamlining on-campus recruiting activities, you make the entire process more effective and efficient for your students and alumni, as well as firms. In addition, your visibility into student and alumni profiles on OneWire enables you to better guide and support candidates from your school as they search for jobs.
