I came across an article that discusses a survey on exactly which companies finance and banking professionals most prefer to work for. It may come as no surprise that Goldman Sachs was ranked as one of the highest, followed by other prestigious corporations, including Blackstone Group and Greenhill & Co. But did you know that each of those companies uses OneWire to find candidates that match their hiring needs? Did you also know that if you are qualified for a position at one of those firms, all you have to do to be considered for the opportunity is have a detailed profile on the OneWire site?
This article came out today, so it's perfect timing that OneWire just launched its newest release that incorporates a group of new tools that were designed to help you be matched to opportunities at firms that you want to work for. The new applications address the needs of students and Career Services Offices at universities throughout the US. OneWire took this release to a new level, by making these new tools a valuable resource for alumni, as well. Presumably, most individuals are or will be alumni of one instituion or another at some point, so, really, this new group of tools is for everyone. The new release makes OneWire an even stronger precise career connections resource for students and professionals who are serious about their careers. But these new features are available only to schools that have partnered with OneWire. If you're a student or alum of a school that has not partnered, either log in or register with OneWire and request that your school become a partner!
NEW FEATURES
Career Services Offices--Many CSOs expressed the desire to have greater visibility into their students and alumni on the site. OneWire wants to go above and beyond that request. We've come up with features that benefit CSOs in the following ways:
- View student and alumni profiles and communicate with them
- Visibility into students' workflow
- Visibility into aggregate data
- Search for and communicate with alumni at firms
- Increased exposure to firms not recruiting on campus
Alumni--Lately, the press has been all over the trend that many almuni have embraced during their recent job searches: turning to their respective colleges and universities for guidance, support, and advice. OneWire wants to address this by including features for students that also apply to alumni, no matter when they graduated:
- Ability to network with other alumni from their school
- Network with the CSO at their school to be better able to receive help during their job search
- Option to network with students, so that they can help current students or recent graduates find jobs after graduation
Students--The fall recruiting season for graduating seniors is upon us, and OneWire wants students to be armed with every resource that we can provide to them:
- Search for and communicate with other students and alumni from their school
- Add greater detail regarding student activities and experience
- Increased exposure to a greater variety of firms
- Complete control over visibility of profile; ability to be private and confidential
- Opportunity to receive referral rewards
In terms of the OneWire profile itself, there have been many recent additions that are aimed to help students create more comprehensive profiles. Details on the new profile sections are coming to the blog on Friday, so be sure to subscribe to our RSS feed or check back in on October 9. You don't want someone else to snag an opportunity for which you would have been perfect. Complete your profile early and you'll thank yourself later.
